From 2001 to 2003, I stayed as a guest at a university in rural Netherlands. During the day, I measured protein adsorption phenomena at the university, and in the evenings and on weekends, I worked on the manuscript for a book titled "Japanese Electronic Music," which was to be published in 2006. However, neither endeavor progressed smoothly, and I spent those days feeling depressed. Around that time, for "Japanese Electronic Music," I had been analyzing the structure of a certain electronic music piece, but due to technical issues, the analysis was abandoned midway. When I received the offer from Mr. Hiroaki Ooi to compose a piano piece, what immediately came to mind was this structural analysis. Therefore, with the help of sound engineer Ryoji Nomi, I resumed the analysis after 14 years, and this piece is the result of transposing and notating those findings. (Koji Kawasaki)
