The "Hanaruki" (nose-walker) appearing in this work is another name for Rhinogradentia, a group of nose-walkers that inhabited the Hi-yi-yi Archipelago in the South Pacific (cf. Harald Stümpke, The Snouters: Form and Life of the Rhinogrades). Schemtochwist, the discoverer of the Hi-yi-yi Archipelago in the South Seas, their place of origin, vividly describes the rituals of the indigenous Huaha-Hachi people. "At that time (around the vernal equinox), the Huaha-Hachi tribe was celebrating the Honatata (another name for Hanaruki *author's note*) Festival. During this festival, they would eat roasted Honatata with fat sandwiched in, while singing ceremonial songs in the village assembly hall. It was around dusk. (excerpted)" (ibid.)
