The four-measure phrase at the beginning is immediately imitated in the left hand, but in the left hand, the phrase is extended to 5 and 6 measures. Bypassing related keys, it modulates to the dominant key, and when the opening motive returns in the left hand, the alternation of dominant and tonic chords is thereafter repeated, emphasizing D major. Immediately after the repeat sign, the tonic key returns early due to the appearance of the movement's opening motive, starting on the dominant, in the bass voice. From measure 68 onwards, it corresponds to the first half from measure 20 onwards, but there are many changes from the first half, such as the left-hand motive in the modulating section.
