As with other works of the same period, this work is sometimes interpreted as a solo sonata with basso continuo accompaniment. In the two-part Giga, the section immediately following the repeat sign corresponds to the beginning of the piece, but the first measure of the section is altered from the first half, and the harmonic progression becomes dominant-tonic. As a result, after returning to the tonic key from the dominant key that closes the first half, modulations to various keys begin. The Minuet consists of 16 measures (8+8), and each section is repeated. The harmonic structure is symmetrical: the first half begins on the tonic chord and cadences on the dominant chord, while the second half begins on the dominant chord and cadences on the tonic chord.
